Technology Update Day - Bury St Edmunds

Looking to keep pace with innovation?

Then mark your calendars and book yourselves onto our technology update day in Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday 24th April from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Venue: DB Conference Rooms, Kempson Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7AR

We’re making it easy for you to get hands-on with the latest technology in the world of automation and controls from our manufacturing partners including, Siemens, Sick Sensors Intelligence, Omron Industrial Automation, Phoenix Contact, Fortress Safety and ETA Enclosures.

You will also get the chance to climb aboard the Efficiency Tour bus from Phoenix Contact and take a gander at how you can optimise your cabinet marking, streamline your cable preparation efforts and more.  The software integration with EPLAN is always a crowd pleaser.

There will also be a series of topical seminar talks that you can sit in on to help you power up your production processes and optimise your new machine & panel builds.

Topics being covered include:

10:00 – 10:45 am | Explore the all-new M1 Series of Variable Speed Drive from Omron

Hear about how the M1 Series expands the choice of motors that can be used in your drive system. Standard induction motors, permanent magnet motors, direct drive PM motors (up to 128 poles), and special motors such as drum motors are supported.

Not forgetting embedded EtherCAT as standard FSoE (STO) support and easy wiring via EtherCAT helps you to achieve a speedy installation with fewer mistakes.

11:00 – 11:45 am | Mastering Efficient Energy Monitoring with Phoenix Contact

As energy costing are continuing to rise, our partners from Phoenix Contact will be discussing how you can save a great deal of effort when it comes to energy data acquisition.

This seminar will look at ways you can design your future energy management system with their EMpro energy measuring devices and integrate your energy data into your local network from any browser via the integrated REST interface or simply push it directly to the cloud.

12:00 – 12:45 pm | Making the most of Condition Monitoring with SICK Sensor Intelligence

Immerse yourself in the realm of condition monitoring and learn about the multi-physics boxes from SICK which measures vibrations, shocks, and temperature to provide early warning signs of potential faults and machine failures. If you’re looking for ways to reduce your operational costs, then make sure to grab a seat.

2:15 – 3:00 pm | Discovering Cybersecurity Fundamentals regarding IEC 62443/NIS V2 with Siemens

While Cybersecurity is not exactly new in the industrial sphere, there has been a significant update that you may need to be aware of. As of October 17, 2024, the EU's mandatory cybersecurity directive, Network and Information Security 2 (NIS 2), will be implemented and is expected to enter into force at that time or shortly after.

The scope of the NIS 2 directive encompasses all organisations, including companies and suppliers, that play a crucial role in sustaining the European economy.

But fear not, as our partners at Siemens will be detailing exactly what NIS 2 is, who will be impacted by this new mandatory legislation, and how you can look at implementing a multilayer security concept that provides both perimeter and in-depth protection as recommended by the international standard IEC 62443.
