How to prepare for SITRANS MAG5000 / MAG6000 phase-out

Our partners at Siemens have formerly announced the phase-out of their SITRANS MAG5000 / MAG6000 flow transmitters as of June 2025. 

This is in favour of the new SITRANS FMT020 flow transmitter which is designed to replicate the functionality of the existing transmitters, as well as incorporating the new features expected of a modern flow transmitter in the digital age. 

The FMT020 is fully compatible with the existing MAG5100W and MAG3100 range of flow sensors and conversion kits are already available to allow for simple retrofitting.

MAG5000 or MAG6000 will still be considered for supply as spare parts by request only. Now is the time to think about upgrading to the FMT020.

Backwards compatability with a focus on the future

Even though the SITRANS FMT020 flow transmitter is the next-generation of Siemens FM MAG transmitters, it is built for use with your existing SITRANS flow sensors including; MAG 5100W, MAG 3100, MAG 3100 P & MAG 3100 HT. 

Since data is now the driving force behind process optimisation, the SITRANS FMT020 allows you to easily access data backlogs via an independent service port and SD card slot. 

With the new Bluetooth-operated Verificator tool, you can go beyond basic interal self-tests, to a full external verification with traceable report. 

To foster seamlesll integration, plug and play communication modules can be added such as; : HART 7, Profinet, Ethernet/IP or MODBUS RS485

What makes the SITRANS FMT020 worth the upgrade? 

The SITRANS FMT020 transmitters significantly improves upon past models in a multitude of ways.

This next-gen flow transmitter can simultaneously measure volumetric flow, flow velocity and electrical conductivity with exceptional accuracy. 

It boasts improved accuracy at the low end to +/-0.9mm/s, with a turn-down
ratio of 1000:1. 

To keep up with demanding applications, the FMT020 was designed to be agile, but not fragile. Thats whyits robust one-piece top enclosure is more resistant to environmental factors including UV and submersion, as well as a wider operating temperature range of -40 to 65°C. 

Potted high-end IP68 enclosures are also available.
