Mechanical Bolt Modules

Mechanical Bolt Modules, within the mGard range, provide a purely mechanical means of isolating the mains power supply by interlocking electrical disconnect switches, circuit breakers and interlocking pneumatic valves for flow control within the process industry.

The most common application is the interlocking of electrical disconnect switches which is achieved by turning a key to extend the bolt mechanism that fits into a corresponding slot in a cam connected to the disconnects handle, once it has been turned to the 'OFF' position. The bolt can only be withdrawn once the key that operates the bolt module has been returned to its corresponding lock.

All mechanical bolt modules come in a stainless steel variant for hygienic and outdoor applications and can be fitted with stainless steel flip caps to protect against dust ingress.

BM/BMS

The BM and BMS (stainless steel variant) are standalone mechanical bolt modules that can be easily retrofitted to electrical disconnect switches to isolate a machine's main electrical supply. The units bolt mechanism is 16mm diameter with 16mm of travel as standard but custom bolt lengths are also available upon request.

Keys are sold separately

  • No of Locks: BM - 1>>10 (BMS - 1>>5)
  • Standard Operation: Key free, Bolt shot
  • 16mm diameter Bolt with 16mm of travel
  • Custom Bolt lengths are available

BMR/BMSR

The BMR and BMSR (stainless steel variant) are mechanical bolt interlocks that are fitted with a switch for providing electrical indiciation of the bolts position. The units bolt mechanism is 16mm diameter with 16mm of travel as standard but custom bolt lengths are also available upon request.

Keys are sold separately

  • No of Locks: BMR - 1>>10 (BMR)  (BMSR) 1>>5)
  • Standard Operation: Key free, Bolt shot
  • Switch Contacts: 4NO/0NC or 2NO/2NC
  • Switch Current: 20A, 32A or 63A
