Control Isolation Interlocking

As Trapped Key interlocking systems create a safe sequence of operation for plant operators to gain safe access into a machine, these sequences typically begin by breaking the machine's safety control circuits, electrically isolating the machine's power supply and creates a safety-related stop function which puts the machine into a safe state of operation in accordance with ISO13849.

This is typically achieved by turning and removing the key that remains trapped within the lock of the control isolation switch. This key can then be used to initiate the next step within the entry sequence. 

The mGard range contains a variation of control isolation switches that all have been designed for use within a specific application scenario. These devices can either be directly mounted within a machine's control panel or can be housed in a variety of enclosure types so that they are suitable for use within a series of industries that are notorious for arduous environmental conditions. 

S Key Switch

The 'S' control isolation key switch has been specifically designed so that it can be mounted within a machine's control panel. In normal operating circumstances, the key remains trapped within its lock until it has been turned and removed, breaking the safety control circuits. 

This switch can be fitted with a standard stainless steel dustcover or a padlockable variant to protect against dust ingress. 

  • Switch Current: 20A /32A/63A
  • Direct Drive Operation: Positively open contacts 
  • Switch Contacts: 4NO/0NC or 2NO/2NC
  • Minimum Operating Current: 5mA at 20v

S-WP Weatherproof Key Switch

The S-WP is a weatherproof IP66 isolation key switch that can be mounted in a control panel within outdoor applications. In normal operating circumstances, the key remains trapped within its lock until it has been turned and removed, breaking the safety control circuits. 

The unit is supplied with a stainless steel dustcover as standard but can also be supplied with padlockable variant to protect against dust ingress. 

  • Switch Current: 20A /32A/63A

S-EM Enclosed Key Switch

The S-EM is a control isolation key switch that is supplied within a Metal IP66 enclosure.  In normal operating circumstances, the key remains trapped within its lock until it has been turned and removed, breaking the safety control circuits. 

This switch can be fitted with a standard stainless steel dustcover or a padlockable variant to protect against dust ingress.

SCU Knob Operated Switch Control Unit

The SCU is a knob operated switch control nit that can either, be mounted in a control panel or, can be supplied in a mild steel enclosure as standard. Stainless steel enclosures for hygienic and outdoor applications are also available. The unit releases its key(s) once the knob operated switch has been turned to the 'OFF' position, breaking the machine's safety control circuits. 

All locks within this control unit can be fitted with a standard stainless steel dustcover or a padlockable variant to protect against dust ingress.

LCU Key Operated Switch Control Unit

The ODL is a key operated switch control unit which breaks the machine's safety control circuits once the 'control' key has been turned, enaling the other keys to be removed. The unit can be supplied on a common plate so it can be mounted into a control panel or, the switch control unit can be supplied in a mild steel enclosure as standard. Stainless steel enclosutes for hygienic and outdoor applications are also available. 

All locks within this control unit can be fitted with a standard stainless steel dustcover or a padlockable variant to protect against dust ingress.
